So I was deeply thinking about what to write next, when a 'ping' breaks into my thoughts. Expecting a "Hello!" from someone far away, I see a "sup?" from someone sitting five meters away from me. And she doesn't respond when I look at her. Deeply engrossed in texting somebody, she probably felt bored and found me. "Look up and talk girl!" is what I wanted to say out. But I just sent her a LOL emoticon with the (-_-) face. Because that's how I felt.
I have heard many say, "This is the modern world and we are the modern generation. We like to text and chat because its more convenient and stuff.." Yeah, that is true. Texting is the best mode of communication discovered in terms of saving time and money. When you are in the middle of a really important work, it is efficient to text over talk.
But do we really need to text all the time?
There are a few things that texts can never convey. The emotions. The expressions. The tone of the conversation. Emoticons aren't always effective, u know. People may just send u a LOL with a (=_=) face (like I did :P)
I truly feel nothing can replace face-to-face conversations. When you are actually talking to the person in front of you, you can see their expressions. You can understand the tone of the conversation. You can understand the mood of the person in front of you. What do u think is more fulfilling, hearing people laugh or seeing the laughing emoticon?
I've been in trouble with quite a few people because of texting. Most of the time due to misunderstandings. Like, how I meant something as a joke and the next person took it seriously. (I don't think I need to elaborate on what followed (-_-') ) Or how my auto"correct" sent something REALLY incorrect and pissed them off. Happens all the time. Almost everyday. XD
My bestie & I were once arguing (in whatsapp :P) about which is better: texting or talking . And she pointed out how texting was like a savior for people who wanted to talk but could never do that well enough face-to-face. I had to agree with her because I was also in that position once. But then I almost stopped talking to people. I could no longer hold meaningful conversations with anyone for even five minutes.Heck, I couldn't even hold eye contact with the person in front of me. (And I started screwing up my spellings too. But I stopped before any permanent damage could be done :P)
So what do u think? Text or talk? Text me if u want to argue about it and we'll talk about this over a cup of coffee! XD

P.S. As soon as I finished writing, I get another
*ping*
Friend from five meters away: What are you writing so much about? (o_O)
And I look up and say, "Jest Scribbling." :)
